How Does Valentine’s Day Started

Valentine’s Day is come nearer and I am lucky that I have a special someone to celebrate it. How about you? Anyway, since it is a love month, even though you have not met that special someone up to now, just keep on waiting, who knows he or she will suddenly cross your life in times you do not expected he or she will come. Add a little prayer too to make the process easier.

As I am waiting for the Valentine’s Day to come, I suddenly asked myself when and where did it started out. So I do some research about it and I find the history behind this event and some interesting facts about Valentines.

People celebrate it to commemorate St. Valentine. According to legend, Valentine was a priest who served during third century in Rome. Claudius II is the emperor at that time and he decided that all single men must become a soldier than to marry someone. Since Valentine is a priest and he does not want to suffer all men not to marry the woman they love, he secretly marries all the couples who want to be with each other forever. However, the emperor discovered about the actions of Valentine so he put him to death.

Maybe you will find this as some sort of parables or something like that but surely, February has been a love month and many people are celebrating it every year. I also gathered some interesting facts that people do every Valentine’s Day. Here’s follows:

There are almost one billion Valentine’s cards are being exchanged every year (wow it means there are more and more people are falling in love). Seventy-three percent of people who buy flowers for this occasion are men and only 27 percent are women (of course that’s the reality). But there are also 15 percent of women in the United States send themselves flowers when this special day comes (hmm... maybe they need to look for a guy who will give them flowers on the next Valentine’s Day).
Whatever the real reason why we are celebrating Valentine’s Day, it is still important to show your love to your special someone no matter what it takes…

Happy Valentine’s Day!
