Hachiko: The Most Loyal Dog in the World

I just wonder why dogs are very well-known as man’s best friend. That is why I searched for an answer and you also want to know why right? The answer is very simple. It is because dogs are very loyal and will guard their master no matter what happen. They are also faithful companions and very affectionate too.

My friend told me that he watched a movie about the most loyal in the world so I borrow the DVD and watched it. As I watched that movie about a loyal dog name Hachiko, an Akita from Tokyo, it really softened my heart because he is really faithful and waits for his master for one decade on the train station to come back. This was a very touching movie that shows how faithful a dog can be.

Since this movie really captured my interest, I also searched for the story of Hachiko. In 1924, Hachiko was brought to Tokyo by Hidesa Ueno, his master and a college professor. Every day, when Ueno left for work, his dog will stand by at the door to watch him leave. When his master arrived at 4:00 p.m. Hachiko will go to Shibuya Station to meet Ueno.

You will see how much Hachiko shows his vast amount of loyalty to his master by doing this every day. And this is not the end of the story. The following years, the professor died because of stroke while he was still at the university. Of course, the dog did not know that his master has passed away, and so Hachiko returned to Shibuya Station every single day to wait for Ueno.

Most of the people in that train station saw Hachiko waiting for his master and as a matter of fact, the station master gave him food and bed in the station but the dog never give up his loyalty to Ueno. Every 4:00 p.m. he hopefully waits for his master and friend among the thousands of people getting off.  Hachiko’s love for Ueno impressed lots of individuals who pass through that station including the former student of the professor.

In 1935, the dog died after one decade of waiting for Ueno, but Hachiko will not be forgotten that easy because a year after the dog died, Shibuya Station setup a bronze statue of the aging dog to honor the great love and loyalty of Hachiko.

If you ever watch this movie, for sure you will also be soft heartened as I felt…
