Interesting facts about Santa Claus

As I woke up one morning, I realized that the Christmas is coming in a couple of weeks now because of the cold breeze that is coming outside. What else what we think of before this event comes? Of course, gifts from Santa Claus. Children believe that Santa Claus will come in their house through the chimney and will give them gifts if they do well in a whole year. Though this is only a superstitious belief, many children still believed that there is really a Santa Claus.

So, where Santa really came from?

A Creepy All Saints Day

I was just finished watching horror movies and I still feel shivering because the movie has good sounds and visual effects making it looks like real. And so after one month, we are again celebrating All Saints Day and there are a lot of partygoers who loved to attend a Halloween Party. Some said that this is the most treacherous period of the year, when witches and Satanists take children off the streets and sacrifice them in the name of the evil one. (Well this is what we always here when we are young to keep us leaving the house at night).

As I reminisced my childhood days when All Saints Day is about to come and a lot of people are talking about Halloween, I began wondering where and when Halloween really came from. So I make some research about this and found out that the word Halloween was contracted form of Holy Evening and signifies to the evening of All Saints Day, when Christians conventionally remember believers of other periods who are particularly good role models of faith in which a lot of them were tortured, persecuted, and/or even died rather than to give up Christ.

The evolution of Angry Birds

How you ever play the most outrageous and very entertaining game in the town? Wondering what is it? What else, it’s Angry Birds! A lot of people today, including myself are very enjoyed to these cute little birds that want to hit those cruel green pigs. Just wondering why the creator makes it green hmm? Anyway, did you know where these Angry Birds started? If not then here’s how. It only began as an idea from Rovio, the source power behind the top most downloaded game not only as a mobile application, but also in computers today, the Angry Birds.

In addition, Rovio took an extremely simple idea from an extremely little team, and operated with it. They began developing this game on March 2009 and today their aficionado base is already playing Angry Birds more than a combined 100 million hours every day. Rovio was only searching for a simple and easy game that they can bring to the platforms of touch screen mobile phones that will also be accessible with other gaming platforms.

Longan: A beneficial fruit to your health

One of my favorite fruits was longan. Have you ever tried out to eat this kind of fruit? Or just like others, you are also not familiar with this. Longan, with has a scientific name of Euphoria Longan, is a fruit that is indigenous to Southeast Asia most especially in China and India. Chinese called this as Dragon’s Eye because it has an eye-shaped mark around the pit.

In addition, did you know that this fruit, together with its cousin lychee were brought by W.N. Brewster, who is a missionary in China, in the United States? Not thriving in cool climates, the tropical tree is normally used as ornamental tree. It defers stunning thick dark green leaves along with groups of floppy fruit. Quite magnificent and entirely beautiful, the tree is presently grows in the U.S. As there is a continuing demand for niche fruits in that country, suitable weather in Florida is possibly to aid make longan fruit commercially.

Interesting Facts About Words and Typing

Any typist knows that the phrase “the quick brown fox jump over the lazy dog” consists of all the letters of the alphabet but here are some interesting facts that I discovered that possibly they do not know and maybe you too.

Did you know that the word “stewardess” is the longest word that you can type with only your left hand, why not try it? And the word “lollipop” is also the longest word that you can type with only your right hand.

Aside from that, no word in the English language that will rhyme with purple, silver, orange and month, if you cannot believe it then why don’t you try thinking any words that will perfectly rhyme with them. J In addition, the word “dreamt” is the only English word that ends with “mt”.

The Natures of Bats

My family and I went to the bat kingdom yesterday and I really wonder why bats are among the most hated, feared and misunderstood animals all over the globe. This is because of their appearance since their eyes are almost the same with a fox. As I researched about the some interesting facts about bats, I discovered that bats are the only mammal that can really fly and they are the second biggest order of mammals worldwide.

The species of bats reach for over 1,000 kinds globally and you can find them in every continent except Antarctica. They cannot live in places that are very cold or very hot. The biggest bats can be found in warm places, while little bats live in both cold and warm areas. When the weather is cold, they hibernate or migrate in warmer climate.

Hachiko: The Most Loyal Dog in the World

I just wonder why dogs are very well-known as man’s best friend. That is why I searched for an answer and you also want to know why right? The answer is very simple. It is because dogs are very loyal and will guard their master no matter what happen. They are also faithful companions and very affectionate too.

My friend told me that he watched a movie about the most loyal in the world so I borrow the DVD and watched it. As I watched that movie about a loyal dog name Hachiko, an Akita from Tokyo, it really softened my heart because he is really faithful and waits for his master for one decade on the train station to come back. This was a very touching movie that shows how faithful a dog can be.

One, Two, Three, SMILE

Every time that there is picture taking, you will always hear “Say cheese”. This term is another way of saying to smile. I just wonder why there are big differences when a person smiles at you. As I research for this article, I found out that smiling is one of special and best features of every human. This is also your best way to show other people that you are in your good mood.

To smile is also a symbol to express your feelings to your family, loved ones and friends. This is also a great way to express your love, care and friendship that will be known by others as something that really comes to your heart. Most of the people agree (and I am too) that smiling is like a disease that can be transferred to others especially to those who always mad and sad.

Star Light, Star Bright

As I was gaze in the sky last night, I saw thousands to millions of stars in the sky. Then I remember the event last year when the evening star, or also known as the planet Venus sits on top of a crescent moon. This was happened last May 16, 2010.

This was a very beautiful sight that very evening where almost everybody saw this once in a blue moon event. You may wonder how does the planet Venus sits on top of the crescent moon that day. This was because the orbit of the planet Venus lies inside the orbit of the Earth around the Sun. And when the Venus’s orbit passes between the Sun and to our planet Earth, it also reproduces the Sun’s light to our planet so when it moves from the evening to the morning sky, it becomes extremely noticeable and looks like a star.

Interesting Facts about Humans: Believe it or Not

I have read some interesting facts about humans and it really amazes me of what I discovered. Even though the saying says that “Curiosity kills the cat” can be all true in some instances, but what I’ve discovered about some facts with regard to humans because of my curiosity does not kill me (since I’m not a cat). Kidding aside, my curiosity gives me an idea about some weird and sometimes funny things about humans plus an added knowledge too.

Did you know that in your everyday life, you are losing 30 to 100 strands of your hairs? Yes it’s all true and maybe a reason why there are bald people. Girls love to put eyeliner to their eyebrows as a part of their makeup routine and speaking of eyebrows, did you know that we have 500 average numbers of eyebrows? And the size of your nose and thumb are all the same.

People can make 1.5 liters of saliva daily. Hmm… want to try that? When comparing the ability of a woman to a man, I must say that women can win this time since the heart beat of every woman is faster than ours even though our hearts beat for almost 100,000 times every day. Women also blinks twofold than we do it flirting with them.

Interesting Facts about Monkeys

We just went in an animal zoo last weekend and I wonder why Charles Darwin made a theory that we humans came from monkey (well I beg to disagree with this theory). Anyway, those monkeys caught my attention because of the way they move. Since they are also mammals, monkey is the only animal that can able to walk with only their two feet.

You can find monkey in any part of the world, even though their species vary from one place to the other. They come from Kingdom Animalia and Phylum Chordata. As I stated above, they are also mammals like humans. There are an approximately 125 species of monkey all over the world. They measure from 14 centimeters to one meter including their tail, but this is also depends on their species.

Facebook Hoax: True or NOT?

Did you hear the news? Or did you read several news articles in the net saying that Facebook will shut down and end up the happiness of everybody on March 15. Is this only a hoax? Well, as far as my Farmville and CityVille is concerned, I am also quite worried that Mark Zuckerberg will shut down the most popular social networking site in more than two months ahead. However, ii also figured out that how can it happen when there are more than 500 million users all over the world are using Facebook?

Before I get frustrated with these lots of rumors about shutting down of Facebook, I gathered some detailed and funny interest facts about it. Aside from its huge users, Facebook also beats the traffic of MySpace and it is now on the second place most trafficked websites next to Google. That is why how can it be happened that they will shut it down?

ANTS: Small but Terrible

I recently watched the movie “The Bugs Life” and I became curious about the life and existence of those ants. Although they look bigger in the screen, they are very tiny in real life. And as I go to our backyard I saw a colony of ants and I wonder where they came from. They seem like very disciplined because people will always saw them walking and working always falling in line. As I browse through the web (because they really captured my curiosity), I found out that ants have been living in this Earth for over 100 million years.

Also, there are approximated 20,000 various species of ants and they were called as the most thriving species here on Earth. They also build several types of homes. Most of them construct little mountains out of sand or dirt, just what I saw on our backyard. Other use small sticks combined with sand and dirt to have stronger mountain that provides protection from rain.
